March Blog - Choosing an Open Source Project

            There's not really much to talk about for this blog in my opinion since the meat and bones of the project is done on a separate blog. But i wanted to talk about the different open source projects and class. This week I found out that there are a lot of open source projects, and I mean a lot. I found it really interesting researching and finding about all these different projects.
             For Stage 1 of the project I asked for help. Im part of an online community that's filled with primarily computer programmers. So I messaged them and asked what were some cool open source projects that they would recommend. I got a ton of different options such as GraalVM, TensorFlow, Zopfli, Density, and so much more. If you've read my Stage 1 blog post you would know I ended up going for Zopfli because it was fairly easy to use in my opinion and it met all the criteria if was looking for.
           Aside from the school work, the school itself was going through a big change since they were moving all classes to online. This class didnt really change much, but we did get youtube videos of our professor explaining certain topics and how to do things. I personally like this because we can always go back to the videos if were ever stuck and there's less notes.

Lab 4 - Continued

Hey everyone, this blog will talk breifly about what I learned during the lecture and my overall progress on the lab 4. On Friday during the Lecture we learned and talked about current architectures and the history of CPUs. Two architectures that stood out were ARM and x86_64. Regarding the Lab I'm currently still working on it. Im currently being swarmed by other assignments from other classes so unfortunately I've been ignoring this lab. March Blog - Online Switch Over Week

               Due to the COVID-19 Virus Seneca had to shut down all classes for a week to reduce the spread of the virus. This gave students a one week break from classes, as the school and faculty sought after ways to bring classes onto an online shared space. Of course this class was no exception. I don't personally believe that this had a large affect on this class, because so much of the content was already online on the CDOT wiki and on google.                While there were no classes i decided to try to relearn the subject and practice a bit more. After last weeks miserable attempt at Lab 5 it was clear that I was falling a bit behind and at my current pace I woudlnnt be able to pass the class. SPO PROJECT - STAGE 2

Hi everyone, for this blog I will talk about the second stage of the project, how it went and what I did. I've noticed that this class looks very difficult but when you do the actual work its extremely easy. For this Stage I had to do some profiling on the open source project i selected in Stage 1. The link to stage 1 can be found at the bottom of this post. Like the first stage i had to do this for the AArch64 and the x86_64 architectures. The first architecture i attempted this on was a x86_64 architecture and I was a bit confused. During stage 1 and 83mb file took around 4 minutes on average to compress. After trying again today it was taking over 8 minutes. I could not figure out why this was happening and I spent quite some time on it. Defeated, I decided to just use a 43mb file instead that ended up taking the amount of time I posted on stage 1.   X86_65 So after watching the helpful video that my professor posted on the CDOT wiki, I attempted to "profile"...
